I'm terribly biased and it's my desire the Khaoran get stronger and be a thorn in every empire's side as they are honest and wage war in a mostly honorable way. I want them to gain powerful starships to test my own. They will fail, but it would be a challenge.

The Rotharians are hard to have any affinity for as they are totalitarian and I wish that were not so. If this was a multiplayer game, then I would feel differently.

A good writer could persuade anyone that there were noble qualities in any of these empires and sway players by revealing their backstory, challenges, and hidden attributes.

No empire would think of themselves as evil. Their patriotic citizens would become apologists for those misdeeds. You want a game to be balanced where the veteran soldiers are measured in their assessment and know their leaders are not good, but still want to serve them even to their own demise.

Loyalty is a noble virtue and a necessity in veteran soldiers.

Zealotry is stupidity in veteran soldiers and a handicap. That gets soldiers killed by blind faith. What a fool a military commander would be if he or she was a zealot. Empires are not immune to corruption. Zealots follow illegal orders.

Everyone applauded the fall of the Soviet Union as they were horrendously corrupt, but the civilians and some politicians got the credit when it happend because loyal patriotic Russian soldiers were not zealots and stood down and allowed the collapse to happen. That took courage...perhaps valor in some circumstances among East German soldiers.

For BotE to be multidimensional regarding the bravery of veteran soldiers, there will be times that a totally inadequate amount of troops will be defending a sector from a ground invasion following bombardment. It's not just about numbers as those would be gutsy soldiers heroically trying to protect until reinforcements can arrive and starships can break the siege.

It would be awful to just reduce the billions of lives in a 20 light year sector to just galactic map coordinates.

In most cases, they would be one bunker away from failure.

This is ugly. If you totally bombard then genocide is a possibility as I ran a test of turn#409 and in one instance, the Cartare bombardment was so severe that it erased the Nuumbar. Gone from their sector through the total genocide of 23 billion people.

The Cartare badly coveted that sector and sent 4 weak Cartare fleets and one of their minor race fleets against the Nuumbar who have zero defenses.

Way back in April when I first played BotE, I had all six empires turned on and within 20-40 turns on a standard galactic map, it seems like one empire was crushed and capitulated and seemed to be like a vassal state to its victor. I can't remember and I started a new game shortly thereafter so I just remember it vaguely. Perhaps that is so when down to one last major sector, then those major empire starships can still be constructed?

I nearly crushed the Khaoran by sabotage once and they had no power to oppose me, and I kept trying to get them to accept peace as I did NOT want to invade them. I think they grudgingly accepted peace or even suggested it. I have played so many BotE games over the last 7 months of testing, that it's hard to keep them straight.

The soldiers fighting out of loyalty to another empire are treated with respect and so absorbed, not eliminated. That has to be one of the earliest examples of chivalry as a integral aspect of command.

I can't recall exact, but I think it was during the crusades and a medieval commander pleads for his enemy to lay down their arms as he does not wish them to die as their situation is hopeless.

About 4 hours ago as of this post, Dominion servers for US voting machines in the November election that are controlled by the Democrats and the Chinese were seized in Frankfurt, Germany by the US Army.

It is starting to happen folks. The crap has hit the fan.

The actual raid was seven hours ago but the reporting started leaking four hours ago through Twitter. Apparently part of the Dominion fraud was routed through Scytl in Spain and then on to the servers in Germany.

Almost certainly this means civil war in the USA and probably world war 3 will follow. You might want to get some supplies as there will be panic and even worse supply chain failure as China directly was facilitating regime change in the US presidency. Numbers vary from 2.7 to 8.9 million fraudulent votes.

Be a good critical thinker and verify everything I said.

Congressmen and generals and distinguished federal prosecutors are claiming clear evidence of massive fraud and a sham election and in a genuine sense a form of information warfare and calling for the harshest punishment possible. You can see why I am a little distracted on the Balancer mod.

There are allegations former president Obama was involved as well as George Soros.

For a military raid to occur on German soil means the highest levels of the German government were alerted and gave permission, and most likely because this is considered at least terrorism and plausibly was an act of War by the Chinese.

The story is being buried on the US media so they may be collaborators of this as well.

Things are so bad, that the rumor is since this a sham election, we have a constitutional crisis and the 12th amendment would be invoked.

Kamala Harris is an avowed Marxist and the vice presidential candidate under Biden who is not a natural born citizen, thus all of that will be pose serious constitutional challenges to her serving in any capacity if Biden should be elected.

Her mother was born in India and her father was born in British Jamaica. She is a citizen but not a natural born citizen because of the above. This is such an issue that the US Supreme Court would have to decide, not pundits with axes to grind.

This is a humongous mess and possible the worst crisis since the US Civil War.

It's standard wargaming strategy to use the internal disarray of a nation to be an ideal time to attack as the line of political succession is broken and being challenged.

In BotE you do that with sabotage. I have never seen such a powerful espionage and sabotage weapon as there is in BotE.

Why not attack? Because doing so may galvanize the political will of arguing foes. For example, there is a belief that since FDR instigated the guerilla aid through the Flying Tigers in Manchuria, coupled with the petroleum embargo, and wanted to end isolationism in America, that the intercepted intel regarding the Pearl Harbor attack intentionally was hidden. There is evidence this is true, so Admiral Kimmel had no idea and so 30% of the US fleet was annihilated in Hawaii plus 75% of the planes there.

So he violated the Neutrality Act and the Lend Lease Act and one more that I forget. In the USA, the president could not declare war, only congress, but decades later through the War Power Acts, the President could intervene for 60 days plus 30 days to withdraw so effectively 90 days. That has been horrendously abused since 1973.

To balance this and be realistic in a wargame, then some games like Civ3 disallows the player from declaring war if it is a democracy as the legislature can countermand the decision or end the declaration of war.

So in BotE, there are no forms of government, so no mechanism to abbreviate the length of a war except if one empire can persuade through diplomacy. Maybe there should be governments though?

Typically say in GalCiv 2, you learn technology and this unlocks various forms of government and then also choose. And in that game, an unpopular leader can then be countermanded by many political forces, so that the leader lacks enough political power to declare war and make it last.

BotE has no checks and balances that way.

Government forms then also facilitate higher approval in diplomatic stance, while other governmental forms lower diplomatic stance. That can create situations where natural allies exist and other situations where it is implausible for alliances to happen as the two empires are too different ideologically.

I don't like it, but it is interesting that if you turn on random events in BotE, then political leadership changes and so a formerly bitter minor race may become malleable as a political seachange has occurred.

The problem with random event is big population drops can happen that are extreme and inexplicable. They are treated like census errors.

Now, why would such governments be helpful in BotE? You don't know how to run an empire as you barely know how to run a globalist government on a homeworld that then spreads to colonized planets in a 20 light year sector (it would be helpful if people stopped thinking of this as solar systems as that is really bad astronomy).

So that means unless you have a high enough morale and have invested in enough infrastructure to gain that morale from the citizens, and done a lot of research, then early empire vs empire wars would not happen. That is wisdom.

You really don't want early wars as every empire is too weak.

Okay, the opposite viewpoint is there were fledgling empire wars in Star Trek like the early Federation vs Klingon war and the Andorians vs Vulcans and the Federation vs Romulan wars.

What ideally would happen is a modder would preset all six empires for turn #100 or maybe 150 and then those could logically happen. I could do that in maybe six weeks. Then all six are strong enough that realistic ship to ship combat, not fleet to fleet combat might happen with some experimental starships as the empire is hoping that will help them win....rather like the Manhattan Project and its parallel in Germany, the USSR, and even to a slight extent in Japan.

BotE needs scenarios and those would be very fun in multiplayer. You could get six people and spend a weekend battling it out with a scoring system
