For example, the Delarians have the Pairo dreadnought. That has
10 x Laser Emitter Type 10 0-55
8 x Laser Cannon Turret Type 8 0-360
4 x Laser Cannon Turret Type 8 90-360
4 x Laser Cannon Turret Type 8 270-360
8 x Laser Beam Turret Type 8 180-360
So if fully upgradable might be superior to any Mozwar warship. Look at those firing angles as they can continuously fire upon any who approach and then try to evade. You are going to be awash in particle weaponry...it is inevitable.

A Hiro'akka battleship can do a base amount of 8128 with beam weapons...before upgrading.

For a long time, I have been trying to get these folks to be members because look at what the Kororr battleship can do.

The Zhordanians have a Exocren battleship and that badass ship will fry you with 24,000 in beam damage.

As the Omega had 2.7 million in the treasury, they bought monopolies in titanium, deuterium, durantium, and crystals just to get some return on their investment. It's a waste of money, but this doubling of mining allows the unlocking of infrastucture faster, and then the capcity to routinely build customized ships.

In the long term it can harm profitability as there is less need to buy natural resources which is counterintuitive.The way BotE is designed, a wasteful inflation-prone economy rewards the player with higher profits. What happens is a clever playér can makes so much profit that they can't spend it all. Strange but true.

Since the sky is the limit, I am experimenting with subjugating minor races to see how long it takes to have the ship designer unlock for those starships. As yet, the other Mozwar ship is not available.

I also conquered the Brane, Deshant, the Delari, and crushed the Tarokye starships. They are a consider distance away so a fleet of ground invaders and an escort are headed that way and should arrive and engage in 7 turns. After an occupation times 8-10 turns, I could then send those invaders to do the same mission again in a new sector.

There just are a few remaining points left to complete level 14 tech. I did this only because the Omega needed to solely complete the energy tech for level 14 and so they could create Grigory II Cartare starship vessels when they subjugate them in the future. They would of course as their espionage and sabotage poses a threat to them, as does the Rotharians who are so far away.

Things that bother me.
1. The subjugation of the Mozwar will still not allow me to create the other space vessel they can make...even though that sector is at the pleased level.
2. I subjugated several species as a test so you might wish to play from turn#300 instead as it remains to be seen if the Omega can ever make Brane, Deshant, Tarkolyte, or Delranian vessels. Time will tell.
3. The Karorr finally joined as members and though I like their starships, they are weak. Really what makes the upgrades strong are torpedo upgrades. This bothers me.

I strongly feel that any wise empire would find a solution to equip minor race starship technology to create a synthesis most of the time to have advanced starship technology. I want the Balancer mod to ultimately address this.

4. Sectors are NOT solar systems but 20 light years along the x,y,z axis as well as time. If the Earth, being a rather insignificant planet in a cosmic backwater, has 7.7 billion citizens , sectors would routinely have 90 billion potential population...of which only 30 billion would be workers just by basic demographics.

When a sector has below 10 billion population, then you always get into energy issues as there is insufficient citizens to power things up. This makes no sense.

5. This genuinely bothers me, and has so for months. When research is done, then those facilities just act as a drain on the economy as citizens are working at accomplishing nothing useful.

Which was the impetus for the Balancer creating six totally new levels, as few would ever complete all 20 levels, thus this never is an issue.

But what will the AI do? Does the AI scrap what is useless? I doubt it. So the Balancer mod should try to find legitimate logical solutions so construction of infrastructure is constructive ie has a beneficial purpose.

Things should get increasingly efficient and engineering should be able to address construction such that scrapping is never necessary.

6. You always would want both fully defensible sectors and starships too within that sector, but also with advanced technology, robust ground defenses, not just bunkers.

7. I think level 15 and beyond tech would try to address and solve these issues, thus deritium gets locally created by some advanced process of molecular recombination. This begins with agriculture to solve hunger, but then for raw materials to create even in sectors without naturally occurring sources. Then harvesting from asteroids and moons. Possibly gas giant harvesting. But ultimately an intrasector raw material molecular recombination technology.

Why?

Back in the sixties and seventies, they fully planned to have a lunar colony and there was no economical mechanism to ship all those raw materials to the moon. The ONLY way it would ever happen was making locally found raw materials work.

That has been the same plan for a Mars colony.

It follows that this issue will be a major obstacle for all space colonies, and every sector especially when having 80 stars within them, would NOT lack raw materials. By all indications, space is rich with raw materials. That is why lunar and asteroid mining is even a phenomena. Besides that, ramjet technology would fuel starships.

This is why the Balancer mod will address starships having generations of upgrades so that the AI will have newer and plausibly multiple choices within a starship class based on varying weapons systems. They would end up having propulsion upgrades and armor upgrades.

Advanced technology would allow beam and torpedo systems.

Advanced technology would allow superior manueverability until advanced generations would have amazing manuevability. It logically follows or fleets make no logical sense as they must tightly control manuevers or collisions in space would happen routinely.

You really should study BotE's weapon systems as so much time and effort went into creating them. It's very comprehensive. It makes sense that certain generation upgrades would be naturally configured to optimize their niche use in fleet tactics.

In some ways, at advanced levels, fleets might be configured as starship construction, as otherwise the human player has a huge advantage. But that means a fleet being constructed would take a long time, and logically would be rushed based on large standing treasuries facilitated by extraordinary cashflow.

It's too much to expect the AI to routinely construct optimal fleets. Imagine in your mind all the starship manuevers and specialized roles of various vessels to win an engagement. At advanced levels, that is why a fleet might be contructed rather than assembled from experienced units.

An intragalactic empire would be exposed to technology from major and minor sources. They also would aggressively do espionage.

So at advanced levels, they would not replicate, but create a synthesis of both their own scientific knowledge internally and combine it with all the tech so encountered, and synthesize these advanced level 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 techs. Then produce superior buildings, troops, starships and fleets.

"That is a marvelous energy source, but polluted their sector . So let's take what we know, and improve that energy technology from those other species so it is safer and does not cause us remediation issues or health risks. Otherwise that would be self-sabotage. We will make something better and cleaner to serve the empire."

At some point, then every empire would consider the wisdom of allowing so many individuals on a starship, who all have free will, and thus could betray the empire. Whereas a grown sentient organism or an artificial lifeform or an android combination of grown and created material has no free will, just protocols.

To get harmonized fleet tactics would require such a lack of free will so the fleet is controlled as one organism not thousands of crew members at various levels of operating efficiency.

But then, what if they refuse to be servants or slaves?

At the highest levels of technology, the most powerful sentient artificial lifeforms may rebel rather than subjugate other species or even attack their creators.

Even though the Omega have vastly superior fleets, conquering the Delarians was a time consuming affair as they refused to capitulate. So it took several space battles before their last starship was destroyed. Then the bombardment killed tens of billions along with sending level 6 units. The death of 30 billion people was horrendous.

I did not feel victorious. It felt like a sickening waste.

Even warrior races would come to loathe such carnage as a warrior race would admire worthy opponents who had done nothing wrong, but were attacked and defeated so the Terrans did not gain their ships.

It would cause issues as some warriors would likely try to help the Delarians.

These kind of philosophical issues make me think that advanced technology would try to find a better solution to negate an opponent's weapons and ships or make ground invasions work more efficiently.

Soldiers love victory against soldiers, not civillians. It goes against everything they learned at military academies. A starship soldier would be the best of the best of the best and would refuse to do it as it violates honor.

If there is no scarcity and the Omega are 6 to 7 times stronger and superior to all the other five empires, let alone the 150 minor races, how would they get their veteran soldiers to keep fighting?

This is a problem.

Soldiers fight and die in wars so the enemy is defeated or absorbed, and in every way, the raison d'etre for war has been eliminated.

Two conditions exist, but when are they plausible?
1. The Cartare and Rotharians technically can cause worse sabotage, but not when the Omega have 4.08 million internal security points and have so many colonial sectors.
2. If the five empires absorb the combined space fleets including the Zhordanian Exocren battleships with their mammoth beam weapons, then that poses a threat.

It's weird how intel points are calculated as assigning 10 % to espionage to five empires and 10 % to sabotage of the Cartare does equal 60 % assigned, but until turn 400 it largely does nothing. As it stands now, 418334 intel points are being allocated, leaving 4.08 million for internal use. See the issue?

Several minor races have buildings that greatly enhance espionage, sabotage, and internal security. Thus it's foolish and dangerously illogical to presume that the Terrans with their superdiplomacy cannot be even a WORSE threat regarding sabotage.

Sabotage having such an enormous role causes extreme paranoia in BotE like no wargame I have ever played.

The Terrans control 21 minor races.
The Heyoun control 27 minor races.
The Cartare, Rotharians, and Khaoran control 6, 8, and 6 minor races. It then starts to bug you around turn# 400 when sabotage kicks in. Which minor races have special sabotage buildings now? :shock:

There is all kinds of US War College discussions on exigent threat assessment as it is a complex topic. Having the capacity and the military forces and superior technology and wealth and raw materials definitely make the Omega the most troubling empire regardless out outward appearances.

And partially by design, I just intentionally committed genocide against the Brane, Deshant, Tarokytes, and Delarians. I gave the other 5 empires and the other minor races something to have nightmares about after 340 turns of peace and benevolence.
