Advanced Save Game Six Empires Huge Map and Minor Races

A smart diplomatic player strings along the other empires and plays defensively and can attack troublesome conquering empires, but focuses on total research. They build every enhancement and 10 research buildings in every inhabited sector and recruit the minor races that do research advancement. Then "win" by a total research victory, but keep playing however they want.

With better subclasses of starships and better troops(see the troop topics), they then might conquer annoying empires. Maybe not. Maybe they specifically steal their ships. Maybe they attack and neutralize their ships.

Advanced level troops might be mixed composition armies with significantly better offensive, defensive, and morale adjustments. Then those even might have minor race troops within the composition so you have minor martial race abilities to fight.

You take out the annoying empires' power centers and decapitate them so they become minor races. That happened to the Cartare, the Terrans, and the Khaorans. Their member races abandon their memberships. And really, then become zero threat to you. Maybe you get them as members? You can give them a ton of gifts by then.

It would be such poetic justice IF the Cartare became a minor species and you could then gain them as members. I would LOVE that. How humiliating.

You can target sabotage missions, it's just that I didn't as that is a lot of micromanagement. You could just keep attacking space docks and military shipyards and drive the AI enemy crazy as then they can't make starships and keep up. Repair repair repair, crap! Repair! That puts a damper on things.

If I was configuring the Khaoran's diplomacy, as long as you didn't attack colony ships of their's, I think they actually like major races who fought them. They love to fight. Fighting is a chance to earn honor and they expect no mercy. So really, the more you fight them, the more they should approve of you. It probably brings them joy.

What do I mean that an ethical Omega can save the galaxy?

By this turn, the Omega have so ruthlessly crushed the Terrans, Cartare, Khaoran, and Rotharians that many minor races realize the truth: that none of those memberships actually meant anything, but were mere exploitation. Those empires took everything from them including starships, and gave them a pittance while taking their mined ore and crystals and taking their income and research points. That actually is what the AI does.

The Omega, in every game that I have played, have given the minor race members far MORE than they ever took. Every minor race under the patronage of the Omega is a wealthy protected inhabited sector and completely maxed out. That is never the case under the other empires even the Terrans.

Now what happens is en mass abandonment, and the deadliest fighting force ever assembled as full transports with level 6 veteran troops are hovering over inhabited minor races' sectors as well as the former sectors of major races now whose governments have collapsed. More than 10 major fleets are in those regions and could vaporize them all.

I wish that the former major races were minors as then I could negotiate a peaceful transition. It would save hundreds of billions of lives.

See I could just invade, or unrealistically I could leave them alone as they are neutralized. I also can offer them membership with 5000 as a gift. I just did so for ten minor races. The Talltrades actually offered membership as maybe they have common sense.

An ethical Omega leader can save the galaxy. They can offer a diplomatic solution for a transition with genuine patronage and not risk a trillion civilian people enduring suffering for no reason as the odds are hopeless for them. Surrender is wisdom when there is 0% chance of resistance.

In BotE you either lose small or lose MASSIVELY. Human beings in small subsets will resist anyway, but most will capitulate. The Omega can crush them all and not lose a single soldier or starship.

The American remake of Besson's 1990 film Le Femme Nikita is pretty good. Two female assassins were former low level street thugs and drug addicts, but were put in a CIA "wetboy" project were they take psychopaths and turn them into trained assassins. And if they fail, they just "retire" them.

Well they screw up and the job goes bad...so their orders are to call a "cleaner". You never want that as the cleaner cleans up the site and eliminates anything which could compromise the mission...including the bumbling assassins.

Right now, every Omega veteran soldier is a badass cleaner. You really don't want them to visit your sector and have to do an eradication.

I can write a paragraph so you either admire the Omega as heroic saviors of the galaxy or loathe them as one of the most malevolent despicable conquerors. So imagine what the news media does to your brain every single day.

When you have limitless power, then conquering loses its desirability as it's more responsibility per turn. Humanitarian missions make you feel good and are optional versus the drudgery of making the same infrastructure over and over.

It's my understanding that the Distant World Universe folks figured that out so you can automate micromanagement. Right now, I'm micromanaging 536 inhabited sectors per turn. It's a J O B. BotE has an automatically build feature, but if that worked, the AI would have better infrastructure than my own choices...which they don't. What you need are "macros" ie the old school way to automate repetitive tasks.

The juicy part of sci-fi serialized dramas is not conquering, but having battles. It's saving millions or billions by doing something altruistic. It's noticing that nobody is helping an intelligent responsible young person, then facilitating their success as you wish someone gave you a hand. Maybe some did, and you own those mentors a debt.

Not building six more titanium mines x 536 colonies. It is necessary and that facilitates the creation of wealth and so is essential.

The compelling part would be just talking to aliens and learning from them. What do they think? What do they know? Are they just as confused as we are? Are we alike in any ways?

Then eureka! They know how to do this better so let's replicate their efforts on our colonies and make the galaxy a better place.

These scenes were magnificent as the Federation is not about conquering other species, but helping others within the confines of the Prime Directive (as ridiculous as this is as it's always broken).

That led to Seven of Nine on Voyager being a standard member of the cast.

Even with Hugh being a "virus" that influenced the Borg Collective, it isn't abusing him or making him a traitor...but a liberator.

BotE can be more than a space 4x strategy game.

If you have limitless wealth and ultimate power, spending 10% doing humanitarian missions costs nothing, but in a miniscule way reduces cashflow. The real profit is fun and entertainment and optimism. Turn #481 has the galaxy becoming a better place than in turn #480...because you interceded.

90% of BotE is comprised of just doing automated tasks and the player being logical but robotic. That is intellectually stimulating to a small degree, but grows tedious.

It would be far more diverting to chat up the pretty Wollon diplomat, and come to her aid by sending a rescue taskforce to fight some space battle than to conquer her people. Then move to the next minor race.

The interesting part is helping her. Learning from her. Facilitating a Wollon cadet at the military academy.

The emotional range of contact with other sentient species is compelling enough that this is superior to just stealing their sector with military forces. You still will conquer some, but there is so much more interesting actions to do.
