das mit den symbolen ist ein problem da dies teilweise keine grafiken sind sondern zeichen aus einer schrift tabelle. Da auch die umlaute bei dir nicht dargestellt werden scheinen die schriftarten nicht richtig in deinem system eingetragen zu sein.

Die Flottensymbole, Planeten und den Galaxiehintergrund sehe ich, aber nur wenn ich in der linken oberen Ecke starte und werden nicht mitverschoben(d.h.nur die Linien, Beschriftung werden verschoben).
Die Umlaute werden bei den Roths, nicht aber bei den Cartaren, angezeigt.

Orco, die Schrifttabelle war einmal, mittlerweile sind es Grafiken im graphics Ordner.

Es gibt in der Tat ein paar Probleme mit Wine seit der neuesten Version. Deins scheint besonders interessant, weil in bisher fast allen Alpha Versionen gab es auch unter Windows irgendwann den Grafikbug, dass beim Drübergehen mit der Maus alle Grafiken verschwanden, was für einen Bufferoverflow spräche. Vll. kann puste mit deiner Hilfe beiden Problemen auf die Spur kommen. Müssen warten bis er wieder im Forum ist.

Könntest derweil evtl. ein paar log infos kreieren, sprich alles was einem debugging nützlich wäre, z.B. auch die bote.log Datei und evtl. ein paar Screenshots, die nochmal alles zeigen was du so beschrieben hast.

So sieht sie aus, wenn man die Ansicht in die linke, obere Ecke schiebt. Alles normal.
Im Menühintergrund sieht man noch den letzten Bildschirmhintergrund vor dem Spiel oder von einer neuen Technologie, Invasion usw.

bestimmt. der bote.log scheint allerdings nicht vollständig oder war das wirklich alles was da stand, auch während du z.B. über die Menübuttons drübergingst und der Text verschwand, hat da das Programm nichts in die bote.log geschrieben?

a propos, welche Pixelauflösung hat dein Bildschirm?

Genau das gleiche Problem hatte ich auch im neusten Ubuntu mit dem aktuellen Wine.

Das muss bei der Umstellung von GDI auf GDI+ gekommen sein. Denn früher hat ja alles funktioniert. An was es nun genau liegt weiß ich noch nicht. Muss ich später mal nachforschen. Bekannt ist mir jedenfalls der Fehler. Das komische ist nur, dass es nicht alle Grafiken betrifft, sondern nur manche. Auch nicht in jeder Situation. Komisch komisch.

Irgendwie ist jetzt mehr drin. Komisch. Ich habe allerdings eine Runde gelöscht.
Viellleicht auch zwei, war dann aber bei einer kaum mehr als "WARNING Could not load graphic: ...".
Sieht man hier eventuell, wieso das Spiel abstürzt?

Ich hatte ähnliche grafische Probleme, doch sie wurden durch ein nachinstallieren einer nativen GDIPlus behoben. Mit winetricks ein Kinderspiel. Hoffe, dass hilft weiter.

Cool wenn es so einfach gehen sollte. Kannst du (oder jemand der sich auch damit auskennt) bitte eine kleine Anleitung verfassen, wie man das in Linux bewerkstelligt? Ich bin selbst kein Linux-Profi...

Ein Nutzer (HDYST) aus dem englischen Forum hat eine ausführliche Anleitung geschrieben, wie man BotE in jedem Linux mit Wine fehlerfrei zum Laufen bekommt. Ich quote sie hier:
Before anything, I'm sorry for this late response. The game runs fine under any Linux and if someone wants to see how to run the game I'll post the exact instructions and try to explain why the problem occured. I should've posted these faster, maybe someone needed them..

So there are basically two ways of getting things done, one safe (which uses winetricks) and one not so safe (but works without requiring an internet connection and may be faster) which uses the GdiPlus.dll file found in the BOtE root directory.

The "safe" method:
- Run "sh winetricks gdiplus" (do this before installing the game)
- Install the game normally through wine (if something goes wrong make sure you have the privileges and the game setup can be executed)
- For fullscreen mode, enter Wine Configuration > Graphics > Check "Allow DirectX apps to stop..." and Uncheck the rest of the checkboxes.
- For windowed mode, in Wine Config > Graphics > Check "Emulate a virtual desktop" and select a resolution if you want

The offline and faster method:
- Install the game normally thorugh wine
- Go to Wine config > Libraries > Enter "gdiplus" without the quotes in the New Override for lib field. Click Add. Click Ok.
- If you are having display problems (like the GUI not showing fully) then select either one of the options presented for fullscreen or windowed mode above.

The problem is with Wine's implementation of GDI+; some guys at wine are currently working at creating wrappers for GDI, but there are a lot of functions which remain to be implemented. This is why GDI+ support is so shady for the majority of applications which are a bit more complex, like BOtE... Since BOtE already has gdiplus.dll in its root, you just need to tell wine to override that library. The paths of interest to us are checked in this order for gdiplus.dll (asuming native is selected in config): app folder, current folder, ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32.

So if you just make that setting in wine config, it will work out of the box. There is just one problem though, and this is why I call this method unsafer than the first: You install BOtE first and the built in lib is used. Some functions needed by the installer are stubs.. Those are not critical, but in the future who knows how the installer will be modified and what functions it will need from the wine lib to make it unusable? After the installation, the *good* library will be used, because the app folder is checked first. One may bypass this problem if the good gdiplus.dll is in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and native overriding is selected (this is what the winetricks command above does).

I''ve tried to find other alternatives, like mono's implementation, libgdiplus, but they implement only a basic set of functions they need for drawing. There have been attempts to make wine work with libgdiplus, but they all have been abandoned because, honestly, it isn't worth it. Better than wrapping libgdiplus to work under wine one could implement some of the missing stubs in wine's GDI+.

So, in the end, the best (and only, to my knowledge) way to get BOtE running in Linux is using the native library as you've said above, Malvoisin.

Ich habe es mit der aktuellen Wine Version 1.3.x in Linux Mint selbst getestet. Alles funktioniert bestens. Sogar der Sound klappt sofort. Nur ist die Geschwindigkeit beim Anzeigen der Grafiken wesentlich langsamer als unter Windows. Rundenwechsel und Berechnung funktionieren aber genauso schnell.

Einfach im Wine->Config unter Bibliotheken die "gdiplus" eintragen und fertig...

Dito, aber meine Versuche unter Linux (Wine) sind bisher (mit der Alpha 6.1?) gescheitert. Der Auswahlbildschirm und die Musik funktionieren einwandfrei und das Spiel startet auch, aber es war unspielbar. Der Menüwechsel (Galaxie, System, Forschung...) dauerte minutenlang und die Karte wurde gar nicht angezeigt.

Ich muss zugeben ich habe keine Einstellungen geändert. Ich wollte es nur "mal eben" ausprobieren. Daran, dass ich da was umstellen muss habe ich nicht gedacht.

Man muss nur in der Wine-Konfiguration unter dem Reiter Bibliotheken "gdiplus" neu festlegen, mehr ist eigentlich nicht nötig.
