I like the idea where a crew of minor alien species make a starship, but due to their species' attributes, they confer advantages. So only in that sector can a certain very manueverable or very fast or very deadly ship be made.
Players love that stuff. They carefully build them, and then when those starships get damaged, they carefully get to a shipyards to repairs.
Once an isolated species gets cultural influences from elsewhere, they are not going to be on the same path, but everything diverged, for good or ill. So it would be inevitable that every minor race would have some nonconformists who would say, "We are falling behind. Let's visit the galaxy too! Who knows where our future lies?"
This is the origin of the concept of the Prime Directive. But can you recall a single group in history who did maintain isolation and avoided cultural influences from outside? There are NONE. The idea is nonsensical. The sole way would to block all transport to that entire 20 light year sector! ABSURD.
I'm upset. It is extremely difficult to mod BotE for Android and make a clear procedure so anyone could run a cloned app that is entirely separate from the standard BotE for Android, then alter some data files so a mod exists. It is a little convoluted process that some would find too complicated.
I may just mod the Windows version using ExaGear as modding that is far different.
1. The original program.
2. The multiplayer beta.
3. A modder version under a cloned app.
4. And plausibly the wisest choice is loading Exagear to run under the Android OS, then running mods that way using the BotE designed for Vista and above.
Why? The cloned app allows two versions of BotE, not more without other cloned version apps. Otherwise when you do a patch from Google play, it will probably overwrite your multiplayer or modded version.
The easiest to mod is the Vista version, and Exagear allows Vista programs to run under Android. This facilitates the whole modding process.
I can do the mod in stages but it will get very confusing for Android users using cloning apps. I believe Exagear is a better solution with minimal performance changes.
But I think the best way is to do that is after modding BotE as I want to make so many changes, and after making the changes, to set the whole thing up takes a minimum of six months of work as I am working alone.
So in that game, players could start waging war and defending immediately with a tremendous amount of research completed and significant infrastructure, troops, and ships and a large treasury.
I had hoped by now that the multiplayer would be a part of the standard BotE program rather than a beta. It makes zero sense to spend six months and then multiplayer happens as above. Then no would have to start all over.
This is why I stopped working on BotE for two weeks as working on the mod is a significant sacrifice of my free time.
