What I typically do prior to uploading a saved game is carefully break all resource routes and reconfigure them as old resource routes are often irrelevant as domestic mining is strong enough that resource routes are unnecessary. This time I was impetuous and did not do that.

Take a look at actual mining versus with additions from resource routes. You can see that information more clearly on the trade window specific to that sector. Now if it's full, then turn the industrial rate to 100% as now you can actually domestically produce starships and troops plausibly without rushing. However, I doubt you actually need this capacity as so much of the military and infrastructure is already built.

Planning all the resource routes for 300+ inhabited sectors is a royal pain in the butt. That probably will take you 4-8 hours to do well.

Even if you have never done it before, go to the research page and the ship designer and see all the work I did for you to make the very best starships. As more minor races and maybe major race starships are gained (thought I know doubt the latter), it may be that some weaponry will be superior and then installed in future versions of your starships. Always always always save the game first as if you make a mistake, and forget what settings were in there prior, it's a little difficult to get the configuration back. Write these custom ship configurations down just in case.

You really need a low level assault ship escort with no or very low level torpedos for ground invasions.

By turn#483, with very aggressive conquering coupled with aggressive colonization too, and since the resource routes are due to be re-evaluated, you will have to also be Johnny on the spot about making sure every inhabited sector does not run out of raw materials from a tremendous amount of construction going on.

Even with no bombardment, buildings get destroyed and that lowers morale besides the civilian casualties from just the invasion, though trying to minimize them in a crude fashion as it would take more time to route the transport to an Omega inhabited sector, and take off some troops, and just go in with a skeleton crew.

Ordinarily morale does not take a big hit as I can rush two types of tetroin as the Omega to effectively placate the upset civilians. This mostly works. Four Cartare inhabited sectors just got occupied, and four are angry, and two can be placated, but two cannot. Then you get the "Bonus Tetroin option" and you can't rush it as it takes 5 turns when they are angry, and they can plausibly rebel. In the Empire systems tab, you will see (runs) as the message, so likely I have to send in some more soldiers, and possibly send morale improving soldiers.

It's a judgement call on minimizing casualties particularly with large inhabited enemy sectors and based on how many civilians die, if not that many, you have a riot and possibly an uprising on your hands. So much for being as benevolent as possible.

This doesn't happen often as I play very conservatively to placate the enemy. When the morale gets that low below 100, then as the Omega you send in Da'unor Troopers as they each have a plus 2 for morale.

Troops ordinarily upset low morale systems as they are rowdy and date the locals and cause a rise in drug sales and prostitution. So if you were foolish and sent in many troops than have no positive morale modifers, you might be throwing petrol on a fire.

The Da'unor Troopers then get that angry morale score at 67 up by every trooper by 2 points. So 10 troopers would raise the morale by 20 points. See? So this settles down a bad situation until you can rush several positive morale boosting projects like the Communication Grid.

Sending in more level 6 Da'unor Special Troops would likely make things worse.

Morale boosting troops in the unmodded game just works to get the morale to 100 points and more doesn't make it go higher, but can make it worse. It can get dicey and you sure don't want to do anything like create an internment camps as that lowers morale but boost productivity.

These are Cartare inhabited sectors, so straight away, you should scrap Labor Camps in troubled regions as each one lowers the morale by a negative 1 point.

The Omega are going in unopposed and crushing any resistance, but that is no guarantee that it stays that way.

Straight away I picked up the Adamar and they are space faring, but have no space dock as it got either blown up by sabotage or by occupying troops. And so that means I get two new ships to modify in the ship designer. That really is the whole impetus for war.

They can make the Jool cruiser and the Cobb destroyer starships. They are stealth patrol ships.

More colonized enemy sectors are just more headaches unless gaining them confers a benefit in the long run beside being a profit center.

I went in and scrapped the planetary defenses and created transports to create an outpost and starbase on top of the THREE sub 10.0 inhabited sectors. One is coming along, and that free up personnel and that eliminated one of the error messages at the bottom of the events page. This means those colonies might do intel gathering or some particular task rather than be able to do anything.

My way of playing results in a large fairly stable treasury in the millions. It was about 35 million and I had to spend it down rushing all kinds of projects to 28.25 million. Now after profit taking, it is back up to 32.22 million. Be careful as you could whittle that down while still figuring out how I make money and if you attack too many systems and build too many new colonies all within a short time span, you could end with inadequate cashflow to sustain such monumental conquering and be unable to placate the occupied enemy.

Be cautious about how much you inflate by rushing projects as that is probably where you make errors in maximizing profit.

I doubt many people play this way as that is juggling millions and errors in judgement could evaporate what I built up for you.

So every turn now, I'm sending in single transports with a skeleton crew and not doing bombardment, but attempting to take inhabited systems away from all the empires but the Heyoun as they have barely had any sabotage.

This turn, a significant Terran military force was absorbed by the Omega as lots of their capital ships were taken through sabotage. Think how unrealistic and humiliating that is for them. It felt as bad as the Battle of Wolf359, the infamous battle of the Borg versus the Federation...except there was no battle.

So when you are sending a ground force, some minor races were subjugated by other major race. This time it was Scytorians.

Now they are a fine minor race to "liberate" like the French at D Day. So what that does to morale scores is different for every major race.

1. The Terrans get a large positive effect on their total morale score, but the wiki is unclear as to by how much.
2. The Rotharians get 2 points.
3. The Heyoun get 1 point.
4. The Khaoran lose 1 point.
5. The Cartare and the Omega lose 5 points!
See you get penalized as the Omega. Now I sent them a offer of membership plus 5000 as a gift, and if they refuse, I won't make the same mistake twice.

All major races who liberate their own people then at rewarded, but of course this is academic as they previously lost morale points when that inhabited sector was occupied.

On the other hand, I got an ethical choice with the Epiral. They confer a negative 20% to homeland security (I guess subtracting 20% from internal security?) but a plus 1 point to morale as a consolation prize. Yuck. It's like stepping in dry dog shit and then being glad it wasn't wet.

1. So you could be evil and bomb them out of existence.
2. You could be good and just save them for last, thus whatever membership patron try have is eliminated first and they are unaffiliated.

In no way do you want them as members. Ethically given a vast galaxy, there is no reason to take every inhabited sector. If the determination is made that the Omega can never create Cartare ships, one might elect to allow them a single weak out of the way inhabited sector so they are not exterminated.

If you don't eliminate them, then you are wasting allocated intel points for sabotage. Otherwise you can bet they will send a token military force to a vulnerable Omega inhabited sector or even to a subjugated minor race used Omega occupation.

There is no way to neutralize them except to keep sabotaging them in some small amount, and that then allows you their weak starships. I have to eliminate them at least once to see what happens. This is why I would prefer vassalage of enemies or even have that as an option where the Omega treat them as strong minor races and so are their patron. Essentially that is what I did for 350 turns.

The way the moral.data is written, all empires get 50 points for elimination, when in history, this is unlikely to happen save in a few instances like Carthage. And maybe even that would not have happened had Hannibal not marched on Rome?

Eliminating a minor race entirely.
The Cartare get 4 points for this, and the Omega get 5, so how do you think the AI will choose? They will do it if playing those major races. This is not always wisdom based lately on some minor race military technology used in all Omega starships.

The Khaoran gain 2 points.

On the other hand, the Terrans lose 20 points, the Rotharians lose 4 points, and the Heyoun lose 15 points.

See before you ever choose a major race, you really should look at how they are supposed to be played. I began playing the Omega in a benevolent way (on purpose) and took morale penalties all along.

It might be fun to play as I did as a personal challenge, and I also have talked about civil wars where more than one type of major race like the Khaoran play and have very different moral.data values.

Some mods already exist where other major races have been created so they could be choices like the Void or Brane.

Strangely enough, sci-fi 4X games are about conquest when that is the antithesis for what the fan base admires about the shows and films.

I think we are moving to that, though perhaps not as the fan base is so old now. Looking at Star Trek Discovery, I'm incredulous new fans like it at all. It is horrid.

The moral.data could have missions in it and so one could accomplish missions with minor races for 5 to 10 points apiece and then the player gets milestone achievements like the "victories" currently are configured.

Similarly certain major race buildings could be upgrades and once you begin, if you say upgraded that 20 times, achieve particular major race victories. Or you could elect NOT to progress that way so you could just conquest. Or as the Khaoran always want strong foes so you always have victories without conclusions. If the Khaoran ever defeat their foes entirely, they then will self-destruct. It will be as bad as the Japanese losing actual Bushido. They lost their way after Sekigahara and that turned samurai into pure bureaucrats. The reason martial arts schools flourished was wistful samurai bureaucrats bemoaned they did not live 300 years prior as feudal lords eternally clashing using the Sengoku Jidai "the age of the country at war".

What I suggest you do is load the advanced turn#300 and modulate the sabotage to NOT destroy the military targets, but merely to create immense internal security. That is as it should be. Why?

The conquest feels empty as the Omega are godlike and can crush everyone due to sabotage as they have stolen all the ships, and blown up all the troops, and damaged all security buildings, and blown up all starbases, and destroyed all planetary defenses, and destroyed all star docks and military shipyards.

Sabotage of military targets in a regional way makes sense. See Norwegian resistance fighter Max Manus during WW2.
